Dow jumps more than 500 points as Wall Street cheers record retail sales comeback; European markets close 3% higher on Fed’s stimulus and new coronavirus treatment; BELEX15 down additional 0.17%; Tendering for Nis-Pristina Highway This Autumn – Works Might Start in Spring 2021, Minister Announces
Stocks rose on Tuesday as a record jump in retail sales — coupled with positive trial results from a potential coronavirus treatment and hopes of more stimulus — sent market sentiment soaring. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 526.82 points higher, or 2%, at 26,289.98. The S&P 500 gained 1.9% to end the day at 3,124.74 while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.8% to 9,895.87. It was the third straight gain for the major averages. 
The U.S. government reported a record 17.7% increase in retail sales for May. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected a gain of 7.7%.
Sentiment was also lifted after Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the plan, the Trump administration is drawing up a $1 trillion infrastructure proposal.


European stocks rallied Tuesday as investors reacted to the U.S. Federal Reserve’s latest announcement, while news of a new lifesaving coronavirus drug further boosted risk appetite. The pan-European Stoxx 600 closed up by around 3%, with construction stocks soaring 4% to lead gains as all sectors and major bourses finished in positive territory.
Germany’s ZEW economic sentiment survey rose to 63.4 in June from 51.0 in May, a more substantial increase than expected by economists in a Reuters poll.
German e-commerce company Zalando slid 4% after Swedish investment firm Kinnevik sold some of its shares.


Serbian BELEX15 was down by additional 0.17% thus this was the fourth straight day of declining trend. This time sentiment was determined by 3.7% at aluminum processor Impol, which was the most traded name at the same time, with RSD 1m in volume. Overall trade turnover remained low – slightly higher then EUR 20 ths yesterday.
Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced today that the first tendering procedure for the Nis Plocnik highway, that is, the Nis-Merdare-Pristina highway, would open in the autumn of 2020. We have already made an agreement with the EU on a EUR 40 million grant, an agreement with the European Investment Bank on EUR 100 million and will soon sign an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on EUR 100 million – the minister said.
